Softcover (25 x 19cm), pp.84 [including 16 pages of advertising]; beige wraps with lettering and borders on the spine and cover in black, illustration in black, grey and pink on the front cover, advertising panel in black and pink on the back cover; richly illustrated with colour illustrations by Adrian Feint; obituary for Hugh McCrae from The Age 18th February 1958 loosely inserted.

Shallow chips out of the head of the spine, tape repair at tail, spine is starting at hinges, back cover is has pulled away from binding, however still firmly holding together; mild edgewear including creasing and chips; edges of text block a touch foxed, top edge dust toned; light toning and foxing to wraps, two small but distinct spots due to glue used at binding along joins on both front and back covers; inserted obituary has caused faint toning to verso of front cover and first page; illustrations have caused faint toning to facing pages; light spotting to first and last pages; matte pages a touch age toned; overall mostly clean and bright throughout. Art in Australia was an Australian art magazine founded by Sydney Ure Smith and Bertram Stevens and published between 1916 and 1942. Hugh McCrae (1876-1958) was an Australian poet; his verse and stories are published here with illustrations by Adrian Feint. Feint (1894-1971) was an Australian artist particularly known for his bookplate designs.
