Hardcover octavo (23.5 x 17cm), pp. [2], xiv, 392; blue leather covered boards; lettering on the spine and front cover, palm tree illustration on the spine and sun and ocean illustration on the front cover all in gilt; eggplant endpapers; richly illustrated with 170 black and white sketches by A.S. Boyd.

Head and tail of spine and corners gently worn; corners gently bruised; minor abrasions to hinges and boards; gilt mostly bright, sun on front cover is a touch dull; fore and bottom edges of text block lightly foxed; sunning to outer edges of endpapers; pages very roughly opened in sections with tears and chips out of pages, loss of text to page 9, however this is still attached to page 11; minor loss of text on p.271; spotting throughout, heavy on some pages while others appear quite clean.
