A poor copy but offered for the inscription by the poet to Sir Charles Lilley. Endpapers separated at the gutters front and back leaving the cover in one piece. The text block is also of a piece except the first gathering is detached. The pages are extremey tan and brittle and smell of smoke. Head of spine is pushed and worn, foot of spine has been nibbled by insects. Item #1081
William Joseph Holdsworth (1849 - 1902) was born and lived his whole life in Sydney. Sir Charles Lilley (1827-1897), politician and judge, was variously attorney-general, premier and leader of the opposition in the Queensland government.
