In October 1961 Viking Press in New York published Riders in the Chariot a few short weeks before Eyre and Spottiswoode published it in London. It is unknown how many were printed but 8,000 were sold, far fewer than the 24,000 E&S editions sold. The unclipped dust-jacket matches all the first edition points in Hubber and Smith.
