This poem originally appeared in The Times (1969) in facsimile of the poet's handwriting. It could be described as one of Bunting's "Overdrafts" described by poet and essayist Christopher Spaide as "drafts, that is, penned over poetic predecessors—overdrafts taken on the literary treasury." (The New Yorker, August 2, 2016).
