Facsimile of : Brisbane: 9th Battalion A.I.F. Association, 1941. The original 9th Battalion was one of the first infantry units raised for the AIF during World War I and one of twelve battalions that landed at Gallipoli on the 25th of April 1915. Battle honours included Egypt, Pozieres, Ypres, Passchendaele, Bullecourt, Menin Road, Polygon Wood, Suvla and Amiens. Private John Leak won the battalion's only Victoria Cross at Pozieres.
