Although not mentioned in my 1970s copy of Muir's Bibliography of Australian Children's Books, Magic in the Pool is one of five Peggy Littlejohn titles in the Muir Collection at the National Library. The only one decorated by King, the others are illustrated by Florence Swinburne. Saxby (volume 2, p.272) describes it as a fairy story although one that implies that the sense of wonder lost in childhood.
