Head and tail gently bruised with light wear; spine has darkened with age and gilt on spine has dulled; hinges and edges very gently rubbed, top edge and margins a touch dust toned, 10mm long shallow ding to top edge of rear board; corners gently bruised and abraded; covers are faintly rubbed, front cover has a distinct 65mm diagonal scratch to the bottom corner as well as some smaller light scratches, two 2-3mm insect holes, two light indentations and some minor bubbling, back cover has minor marking and one 20 x 5mm vertical patch of residue halfway along the fore edge; pages are age toned, spotting heavier at the beginning and end of the book, then moderate spotting and light foxing throughout; bookplate of Charles Parsons Williams tipped in, previous bookseller’s sticker (Foyles Charing Cross Rd London W.C.2.) and pencil price on first paste-down, first paste-down and ffep are filled with previous owner’s pencil notes, then occasional underlining and pencil notations throughout; first title page and first two plates are detached.
