Brief visits were made to Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart and New Zealand. Vocabularies of the languages spoken by the natives of Cape York, South-East New Guinea and the Louisiade Archipelago are appended, together with descriptions of birds, mollusca, etc. The narrative of William Carron, botanist of E.B. Kennedy's expedition for the exploration of the Cape York Peninsula, and the statement made by Jackey-Jackey, Kennedy's faithful and heroic aboriginal servant, whose name is not spelt uniformly, are also included."
