Published for the exhibition Making it Modern: the watercolours of Kenneth Macqueen held at the Queensland Art Gallery, 10 November 2007 - 5 May 2008. Kenneth Macqueen (1897 - 1960) was a leading Australian modernist and a distinctive watercolourist. He worked both as a farmer and as a painter. His farm on the Darling Downs was his main subject and source of inspiration and his clean crisp watercolours evoke a landscape and quality of light familiar to anyone who has lived in southeast Queensland.
