P76 New Writing Reviews Illustrations; Number 2 Autumn 1984
Erskineville: Rochford Street Press, June 1984. First Edition. Softcover : pp. [iii] 81 [6] : Gestetner magazine with distinctive silk screen cover design by Gina Ghioni. Light edgewear, more pronounced at the head of the spine. Near fine. Item #15969
Mark Roberts and Adam Aitken first conceived of P76 in the early 1980s when they were "inspired by a number of other gestetnered magazines of the times and, in particular, Magic Sam. Magazines like Magic Sam combined cheap gestetner printing with wonderful silk screen covers. But while [they] had a gestetner machine and access to a stencil cutter, [they] had no idea how to silk screen."
Roberts had recently befriended an architecture student who, he discovered, knew how to silk screen and how to "access" the Tin Sheds on City Road (by climbing in a window at night). Her artwork meant the first 4 issues of P76 stood out as a small press publication of the period in Sydney. [Rochford Street Press online].
