Overall a good collection, mostly clean throughout but with foxing in various degrees to many of the engravings; cloth bindings of the Life of Scott remain green but the rest have faded to brown. Good. Item #2321

An earlier owner (Robert Alfred Rackham) wrote the following slightly peevish note by way of explanation on the front paste-down of the 40th volume of the Waverley novels, "A rascal at Aylsham having stolen the XLth volume of my set in 1859 I got this in its place the engravings are not on steel as in lost vol."

This collection came from Lord Lothian's library at Ferniehirst Castle and was a private gift to the previous owner.

Price: $1,500.00
