One of 1500 copies. A poem cycle by one of Yugoslavia's most celebrated twentieth century poets and inspired by a visit to Scandinavian forced labour camps where many Yugoslavians perished at the hands of the Nazis. De Bray concludes his introductory note with the following, "...the thought that remains dominant in the reader's mind after reading these poems is the fateful question: - Could not all good people of conscience on this earth, however small their individual power may seem to be separately - could not they all together...do something to prevent a new catastrophe...?" (p.6). A particularly resonant question today in 2022 as a new catastrophe unfolds in Eastern Europe.
