No. 135/200. The author's sole collection of poetry set in Adelaide and the Solomons. Miller/Macartney, p.211. Patricia Hackett, born in Western Australia in 1908, moved as a child to Adelaide. She attended University of Adelaide where she was thrown out for sitting her sister's Latin exam. She finished her law degree in London, and returned to Adelaide where she practiced law (she shared chambers with Don Dunstan) and wrote, produced and performed plays in The Guild Theatre (University of Adelaide) and the theatres she established: The Torch Theatre (one and two). In 1965 the University of Western Australia established the Patricia Hackett prize, awarded annually for the best creative writing published in Westerly magazine.
