Collation #2

Friday, Sep 24, 2021 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Location:
Archives Fine Books
40 Charlotte St, Brisbane, Q, 4000

It was unfortunate to have to postpone our conversation with John Bensley a second time due to the Brisbane lock downs but happily we've been able to secure another date. We thank John for his patience and good humour - and you for yours - and we look forward to welcoming him to launch our discussion about when an assortment of books becomes a collection.

Numbers continue to be limited so please let us know if you are planning to come. RSVP to dawn@archivesfinebooks.com.au
John Bensley has been collecting books for more than 40 years, and his collection has morphed over time to now reflect an eclectic mix of history, philosophy, Jungian psychology, Tasmaniana and wilderness photography. Reflecting a gradual unfolding of a broad range of interests, his collection focuses on how we understand ourselves as human beings in between the natural, the social and technological. His talk will speak to the theme building a collection and we encourage anyone to come along that has an interest in learning what transforms an assemblage of books into a collection, and what lights the fire of passion in a book collector's belly.
John Bensley is Associate Professor and MBA Director at QUT.

With optimism and warm regards,
Dawn & Hamish.

Save the date! Our next gathering will be Saturday October 23, 5-7pm, with guest collector Jӧrn Harbeck
